More context:
* about one out of every ten boots, everything is fine. Fonts look good.
* On a bad boot, xvinfo gives an error and mplayer cannot display using Xv.

There is no sign of the nouveau kernel module being loaded. Make sure
it's loaded, otherwise it won't work. Some distributions blacklist it
in modprobe.conf or a related file. I believe the nvidia blob
installer might as well.

I found that if I compile this statically into my kernel it seems to work.
Haven't done any extensive testing though.

Commit 1dce6264045cd23e9c07574ed0bb31c7dce9354f introduced a regression spotted
on several G94 (FDObz #85160). This device seems to expect the vblank period to
be set after setting scale instead of before.
This is a candidate bug-fix for 3.18
