Those of you in the UK may have seen on the news that the centre of Morpeth was flooded, including the area of the Chantry Museum.

The good news is that the flood defences held at the Chantry, but water leaked through the walls on the ground floor. (I'm not surprised - we had water coming through our north wall too at the peak of the downpour) The Cocks collection stuff, and as much as possible of other things had been moved upstairs, so nothing important has been lost. At the maximum there was only 2 or 3" of water inside the building, which has been now swept out, tho' obviously the carpets etc are ruined and the building will be closed for a couple of weeks. At this time (11am Sunday) there is still water in Bridge Street, outside the building, so if we get much more rain there could be another peak.
