The resolution to my problem was specific to Mac OS X and had nothing to do
with the R module in particular. In case others have a similar problem, here
is my solution.
First, write18 must be enabled. As described by Aditya Mahajan, edit
/usr/local/teTeX/texmf.cnf so that shell_escape = t.

All, thought we had a good strategy for defining our own counter, but
we don't have references now. Any ideas?

I can't find a more clever subject. Sorry.
I typeset two days a LaTex file for academic research using TeXShop.
Now, two days later without using again ConTeXT, it seems I'm not able
to use it anymore.
No output at all. No pdf.
So, I updated via Gerben's i-installer to ConTeXt stable and I
