I'm plotting a phonetic formant chart with metapost inside context.
I know I can't use TIPA, but I would be happy with utf8.
So I'm encoding a utf8 file, and I can see the chars in the source.
As an example I see this:

But MP is complaining about not ascii characters.

TeXLive2007 (all with OSX).
In general it works.

There is nothing in mpxerr.log.
When I was trying to use mptopdf to convert mp file to pdf, it didn't produce
myfile-1.pdf... type files, even though it said it was converted. So, I looked
up this manual
