I tend to write in pandoc almost exclusively these days then convert it
to PDF using context. it goes,
$ pandoc->context, then
$ texexec
works like a charm.

Perhaps a simple question but how to put the symbol of the period in
repeating numbers; for example 3,494949 = 3,\what{49}. The symbol I
refer is similar to \frown but in top of the numbers (like \hat)
