good day to all!

i have been using MKIV to typeset a scientific article. however, while typesetting the table below, i notice that only the second footnote would appear in the pdf file. can anyone help me figure out what i did wrong? for what it's worth, i am typesetting this table with linenumbering in the background.

\setupcaptions[location=top]
\startlocalfootnotes
\placetable[here]{Segregation pattern for pollen fertility restoration involving IR73328A and IR73330-83-1-2R.}
\placelegend
{\starttable[|c|c|c|c|c|]
\HL
\NC \Lower(0.5\lineheight){\bf{CROSS}} \NC \Use{2}[c]{\bf{NUMBER OF PLANTS}} \NC \Lower(0.5\lineheight){ \bf{\chi{\lohi{calc}{2}}}} \NC \bf{PROBABILITY} \NC \AR
\DC \DL[2] \DC \DC \DR
\NC \NC \bf{Sterile}\footnote[1]{Sterile = <5\% pollen fertility} \NC \bf{Fertile}\footnote[2]{Fertile = >5\% pollen fertility} \NC \NC \bf{(Expected Ratio)} \NC \AR
\HL
\stoptable}
{\placelocalfootnotes}
\stoplocalfootnotes

Thanks so much!
