Ahhh your 2cts made mine fall down
The issue was not the %cpu used, but my interpretation of the figures
No matter if you call it PEBCAK or RTFM... I owe you à beer whenever you
come to Belgium :=)
Thanks !! Really appreciate the info !

Hello Patrick,
Are you reading the CPU utilization using top from the %CPU column. If so
that is ok. This represents the utilization of the core that NTOP is
running on. What you should be worried about is the utilization at the top
for the system as a whole.
My 2Cs worth.

Simone,
This runs on a Zotac CI323 (Intel N3150 quad-core 1.6GHz, 8GB Ram, 120GB HD)
Current config file just says:
-G=/var/tmp/ntopnd.pid
Number of hosts: 60-80
Number of flows: 100-120
%CPU used by ntopng 25-35% (as measured by top)
Do you think this %CPU makes sense in this context?
Thanks
Patrick,
If the router has very limited resources then this may be expected
behavior. However, please post ntopng configuration used, as well as the
number of active hosts/flows read from the bottom right corner of the UI.

Patrick,
Does the high cpu consumption occur when using the ntopng web UI? Or it
does not matter?
Which router are you using?

Hi all
Just installed ntop on a router running on centos 7 in à small home lan
Ntop is taking permanently 25-30% cpu
The traffic is not in average very high: 150-200kB
Any clue where i should start searching?
Thanks
