There is no 'default' positioning scheme. It depends on the network
topology and device features. However, you should try and place ntopng in a
strategic location where it can sees most traffic. Here are some options:
- If you have a way to 'collect' switches traffic to a central point, then
you can just use one ntopng on that central point
- If you can't 'collect' all the traffic to a central point, then you can
deploy multiple ntopng and configure them to send monitored data to a
central ntopng.
- If your switches export netflow, then you can use ntopng in combination
with nProbe to remotely collect exported netflow data

So in essence it depends on the topology and features of the devices you
have.
