This is a company that makes a pc in a keyboard computer. Never used
one, so I can't vouch for it but it looks like it would fit your needs.

Hi Ben,
If a KVM connection box was the only computer equipment in the office (aside
from the keyboard/mouse/monitor) then this would satisfy the visual aspect
of the client's request. The client would also need optical drive access
from the office... does anyone know if it is possible to have a
Well…even the thin clients will probably have a separate box. IP enabled KVM
sounds like the next best solution – I guess you could hide the KVM box (that
the keyboard/monitor/mouse) in a cabinet without as much difficulty. Do they
have a server they can run Terminal Services on for RDP?

Thanks for the swift response Ben. My client has looked into the Gateway
'One' which is an all-in-one PC/monitor similar to the Dell unit you speak
of. Unfortunately the client does not like these type of units. This is
unfortunate because it would make my life much easier. They've tried hiding
There are a few vendors, including Dell now, who make an “all-in-one” that
bundles the PC into the monitor. I’m not really that fond of them, but it
would solve your issue.
Or you could hide the computer tower in a cabinet of some kind perhaps?

Hello all,
I have been trying to think of a way to have a keyboard, mouse, and monitor
in an executive suite, but no computer tower of any kind in the room. I
can't think of a good way to do it. I thought perhaps a thin client type
setup, but having an optical drive local may also be a necessity

I always tell my users when I am about to shutdown the system, "This
hurts me, more than it hurts you."
Mostly because I am 10 - 15 years younger and they all used it on their
kids.
It's the small joys in this job that keep you going.

If you store your DNS without AD it is listed in a folder in the Windows
folder so you could probably edit it manually. A quick google should tell
you where. I know when I needed to migrate DNS for about 80 domains I was
able to copy the dir over to a new server and bounce the dns services and

In any event the best way to do this IMO is to make it a service with srvany
or fire daemon and that way you can see the service is running or not.

What are you monitoring for? Tripwire is a good compliance / change mgmt
app. GFI makes a decent log/software metering app that's good priced. None
of these are client installed though. Any particular reason you want it to
be installed on the client?
