Having made 7 trips to China in the last 5 years to see my son who was working there, I have one suggestion and will contact my son for more. I just went into a shopping mall in shanghai and there was a little booth where I could purchase a sim card which worked fine. Of course I didn’t use it a lot, but it did the job. My son is now back in the states, but travels back to China regularly. I’ll ask him for alternatives.
