and what he does would help? Buy him a nice dell laptop with a fire wire

I've got an old HP Netserver, an IBM Netfinity 3000 and a whitebox from U-tron. They all work fine. The whitebox was significantly cheaper (like maybe 1/2 the price at the time for a compatible Dell, HP or Compag).
