I'm a little late to this discussion, but as others have already noted the Vostros are just rebadged Inspirons without the added software. Because of my status with Dell Small Business, I can usally configure a Lattitude cheeper than a Vostro (my cost). I've had some odd problems with the Vostro

More likely something to do with it maybe a form of Insurance and that is highly regulated and treated in an adversarial manner. Especially after the year with multiple hurricanes hitting us. A lot of the companies did not have the reserves to pay out and their customers took a bath. Jon On Wed
