I see the cost of the certification is to make sure you study for it. I see the price tag as making sure you're serious about your endeavors. If the cert was $50 a pop, you could simply take it over and over until you eventually passed by knowing just the answers or by pure dumb luck. I didn't take my certs lightly as the cost came out of my own pocket.

I don't work for MS and I'm not a consultant. Which from what I've seen are the 2 primary groups of people seeking this certification. My employer would never consider this strictly based on cost and ROI. Anyone else of the same opinion? Or am I way off base here?
