Can you please post the new images in the iso format I
cannot use the format that Florian has posted. My 1400
reads the iso as if it were a file container, and it
is very easy to burn as well with nero in windows.

This problems are probably caused by PMU driver of the kernel - when
there are requests left or broken requests in the its' command queue
(the PMU controls power and ADB) the PMU will behave strange.
When the PMU shuts down suddenly from within linux there are most

Yes I have gotten the splash screen only on cold boots but not on reboots, but

I guess there is some short circuit in my keyboard(?).

You can switch kernels at any time you want.
Just use the newer one after the installation.

installer synaptic, it stopped after a while and said the disk was full, but I

did your system simply stop responding or did it reboot automatically?
Did you use the 2.4.30 kernel with mediabay hotplug support?
Deinstalling and reinstalling should help. Perhaps you should not only
deinstall it but purge it (see man-page of apt-get).
