I had a similar problem with Ubuntu 6.10. There was a problem during
system shutdown and the whole script was not executed. I went back to
Ubuntu 6.6 and the problem went away. Check your syslog for a problem
with one of the nut programs shutting down. It was happening on any
shutdown not jus
file before I shutdown. Anyone know what might cause this
problem? I also am having a problem getting the computer to restart when
power is restored. The computer restarts if I turn the ups off and wait
a while then turn the ups back on.

As for SMP, I don't have a way to test this here, but if you boot with
an i386 kernel, it should disable SMP.

I have attached a section of my syslog. It seems to say that newhidups
had a problem on the shutdown part of a restart. But before that upsd is
still running after newhidups has exited. This might be causing the
paging error. My script tries to shut down upsd before it runs upsdrvctl

The reason it's not working is probably that you forgot a "/" in front
of /usr/local/ups/etc/upsmon.conf. You should also make sure that is
the correct location of your upsmon.conf.

I am still not able to get the UPS to shutdown. Here is a list of rc0.d
and the file I created to shutdown the UPS after umountroot mounts the
filesystem read-only and before halt (halt seems to be a no op here. No
code under the start case).
