thank you for your help, once again I tried to google around but forgot to
check launchpad's bugs. Indeed that was it and creating the script as
mentioned in the second bug made it work: box was powered down, UPS was
then shut down and it came back up along with the box a

Yes, The UPS should be sent a "delayed shutdown" command, upsdrvctl
shutdown, to tell it to shut down _after_ the box. The amount of the
delay can be set in ups.conf. The UPS
