I'd like to extend the functionality of Nutch to incorporate some of the
features of Yacy (http://www.yacy.net/yacy) so that Nutch acts as a caching
HTTP proxy. Basically the user makes a request for a url, if an up-to-date
version is in the cache then this is returned otherwise the url
When I try start nutch 0.8 I get errors. How I can solve this problem?

It looks like your trying to bind Tomcat to a port that is already being
used. Edit your configuration file and change the default port (usually
8080) to something that is available on that server.

I am working on a plugin and I have the parser and indexing portion
working satisfactorily.
I am having problems with the QueryFilter on Nutch 0.8. Whenever I have
my module 'custom-meta' loaded and I attempt to do a search I get a
blank page and the only output is a bunch of blank spaces
