printers tend to have "features" that don't work well across networks,
especially on the Mac side if you don't use HP's expensive print servers.

I'm not 100% sure about compatibility, but something like a jetdirect 380x
should work, and hook directly into the printer. That will run you a couple
hundred (~$200), so it may be a bit more than you want to pay. I've set the
380s up on a variety of machines but never on a 7550, but could help you
