This afternoon, at about 4:45, there were 4 immature GREATER WHITE-
FRONTED GEESE in the corn field along Rte 114, East Hampton (Suffolk
Co.). These are undoubtedly the same birds that have been present in
the vicinity of Hook Pond since the first week of January, although I
haven't heard
This afternoon at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge, I was able to find the
continuing adult male Barrow's Goldeneye looking northwest into the bay from
the West Pond Trail. It was between 1/4 and 1/2 mile out in the bay.
Also still present was the nice show of Green-winged Teal plumages, including

Location: Bryant Park, Manhattan (between 40th & 42nd St. off 6th Ave.)

At least 1 of the 3 over wintering *Gray Catbirds* was seen along the south
garden bordering the Great Lawn.
On the Met Life Building one of the *Peregrine
Art Buddington and I saw the Eared Grebe (originally seen by David Neuve of
Silver Creek in February) closeby off the east side of the Central Avenue dock
near the Main Street breakwall. It rested amongst the Coots most of the time.
It is the first time that I can remember a Grebe resting with
The Trumpeter Swan pair was still on Upper Lake in Yaphank this morning.
Dozing mostly. Rousing themselves periodically to vocalize.
Also on the lake: a baker's dozen Ring-necked Ducks; and one Redhead.

I have been hearing a Pileated Woodpecker every morning this week at
my office on Mamaroneck Avenue in White Plains. Doubting myself, I
came to the conclusion I need my audio memory checked, when I actually
saw it fly by yesterday as I walked in from the parking lot. This is
a yard bird
