previously reported Caspian Terns (plus 1, for a total of 3), as well as our

Joe Giunta, Sam Jannazzo, and I (Sy Schiff) met at Hempstead Lake SP and after
a short unproductive visit drove to Alley. We checked the progress of the 2

Residents, spring migrants, and lingering winter visitors were present
throughout the sanctuary this morning.
Lingering winter residents included a half-dozen White-throated Sparrows and a
flock of nearly two dozen Dark-eyed Juncos.

No longer tracking just how many of these have been found & reported
in the state so far, the "latest" of the flurry of YELLOW-THROATED
WARBLER[s] has been reported this morning from Clove Lakes Park in the
northern part of Staten Island (Richmond County) in N.Y.
While looking out my window of my Fresh Meadows, Queens apartment last
night I saw a great-horned owl.
I’m not sure where the owl came from. I know from ebird owls are seen
fairly regularly at Alley Pond Park, but that park is a few miles away
