and photographed a NORTHERN HOBBY from his yard overlooking Bartlett Pond. The

A BLACK TERN was over the Lake in Prospect Park this morning around
8:45. I picked it up while scanning a fairly dense flock of swallows
(mostly Barn) shortly after arriving at the shore near the base or
west end of the Peninsula. My first thought was “what’s wrong with
that Laughing Gull?”
This morning there were six Lesser Black-backed Gulls at Democrat Pt and three
more at nearby Captree SP, the latter three showing some interesting behavior.
When Bobby Rossetti and I arrived, Bird 1 was standing alert in the middle of a
small flock of Herring and Great Black-backed Gulls; Bird

Yesterday, in dire weather conditions I did some coastal birding
specifically in Queens County. Of note, were Surf and Black Scoters right
off the fisherman's parking lot at Fort Tilden. A surprise was at least 2
Common Eiders, west of the parking lot, which I tried unsuccessfully to
