Malcolm Morris, Ken Chaya and I were fortunate to run into Tom Perlman
on the Great Hill late this afternoon. Tom was on his way home but
had just seen a Blue Grosbeak in the Wildflower Meadow. The three of

Seen today at 7:45AM and 1:30PM. The bird was seen in the Deep Hollow Ranch
field, furthest from the dirt road and near the barns, in association with a
flock of Canadas.
Other birds seen in good numbers, from The Point (near the old rest rooms and
the concession), were White-crowed sparrows,
Kissena Corridor Community Garden & Kissena Corridor Park, Queens, NY 11 October
Joe Giunta, Sam Jannazzo, and I (Sy Schiff) revisited the Community Gardens.
Today, most of the activity in the garden was toward the opposite end. Of
interest was a MONK PARAKEET in a flock of Starlings, both KINGL
John Askildsen raises an extremely valid point regarding the access of Greig
Farm. I apologize for making it appear as if this site was openly accessible to
an influx of birders, which I must assert it is NOT as it stands right now.
When I arrived at the farm yesterday there were atleast 15-20 o
Ryan makes a good point about the owners. I asked permission to bird
the farm. They were very nice about it. I don't know if that applies
to an army of birders. I asked at the nursery that is located on
Pitcher La., that runs parallel to Rockefeller La .just north of the
fields.
