The Blue Grosbeak noted by many in the Ramble area of Central Park today was at
least the 4th of that species in that park, so far this fall.
Good migration continued, perhaps more so (from my a.m. observation) on Sunday,

There was a modest flight of birds along the beach today. It was dominated by
Tree Swallows and Pine Siskins (numbering well into the hundreds)The only other
birds of note there were a continuing Bobolink along the fence line near the
army reserve building and a Blue Grosbeak found by Corey

On Tuesday morning the influx of birds had certainly slowed, although
migrating birds were still very much in evidence in the morning hours.
Birding with my sister and Vicki Bustamante, the highlights were:
*Theodore Roosevelt County Park*
*Lark Sparrow *(first found by Peter Polshek)
I saw an american white pelican at the West Pond in Jamaica Bay NWR,
Queens, NYC. It circled the pond several times, landed and as of 3:00
pm today was resting next to some swans near the shoreline by the
entrance of the old terrapin trail.

There are a couple of recent items on eBird that will likely appeal to birders
in New York.
We just posted an article by Matt Young on Red Crossbills that covers the
status and identification of flight calls of the different types of Red
Crossbills in North America. The article
Lenore Swenson's group responded to a 10:36 AM text alert from Kellye
Rosenheim, Pat Pollock, and others of a BLUE GROSBEAK perched in a tree
just west of the Maintenance Meadow lawn. The cooperative bird remained
there and gave good, close looks to all.

to EAST, which I had never seen at this time of the year besides the usual
suspects.
Many Golden crowned Kinglets, Red breasted Nuthatches, Yellow rumps, Cedar
Waxwings and a pair of Sapsuckers.
