The Eurasian Wigeon first reported by Ken & Sue Fuestel continues on the first

When Ardith Bondi and I arrived at the baseball fields shortly after
2:00 PM the ball players were deliberately chasing the geese off of
the baseball fields. The geese flew to the cove just NNE of the
baseball fields where we located the Barnacle Goose. It was

Spent a bit more time on the East End this morning with nothing new to report
other than some updates.
I first stopped along Further Lane to locate Angus' reported Cackling Goose.
The flock was reduced since yesterday with fewer Canada's, zero Greater

Michael McBrien, just texted me that he was leaving Sunken Meadow State Park
after unsuccessfully trying to find the Scissor-tailed Flycatcher that was seen

I was one of the birders who saw the bird at this spot (email below) around
12:30. It was my second attempt in two days.
For those new to this park, this is along a trail that loops around a glacial
"kettle". If you zoom in to the area on Google maps, the trail is called
"Brooklyn Queens Green
The previously reported Barnacle Goose was still on the baseball fields at
Inwood Hill Park at 1:30 pm with a large flock of feeding Canada Geese. The
bird, however, was not associating much with the Canadas. While Ann and I
watched, a small child walked across the field followed by her parents wit
The Virginia's Warbler was seen twice between 11:30 and 12:30 at the
location where it was seen at 1:45 yesterday. This is on the trail on the
south side of the gully, at a high point with good visibility into the
gully. There is a new twist - an Orange-crowned Warbler - that may throw
birders off.

I received an E-mail from the Platt's that they found and photographed a
Scissor-tailed flycatcher at the northeast end of parking field 3 in Sunken
Meadow State Park at around 2 pm yesterday. (11/11).
67 Mute Swans this morning north of Sunrise highway.
Unbelievable.

We checked for the brewers blackbird. It was not present. During a subsequent
visit to Rita's we were told that she is not allowing visitors today because
she has to many workers coming in to work on the roof.
Good birding,

kirsten and I joined Tom Burke and Gail Benson yesterday in search of the
rarities on the island. we were not disappointed.
We stopped first at Alley Pond Park for the Virginia's Warbler and by sheer
luck, the bird popped up after an hour's search. We then headed out east to
Montauk.

Just had the lapwings at Deephollow ranch in the north pasture. They took off
and look like they were headed toward the South pasture.
