entirely within Van Cortlandt Park. I'm curious to know why DEC even has
jurisdiction within a City park.

winds from south to heavy north winds with rain on 4-24 &4-25 .There was a
huge fallout on padre island Texas. Thousands of birds were in the few

Several people looked for the previously reported Prothonotory Warbler from
about 7:30 to 10:30 with no luck. The only migrants were a Palm & Black and
White Warbler. Blue-wings & RB Grosbeaks were also present

landfill; sun hitting their yellow breast during telltale flight.

Just a reminder - the NYS Turkey Hunting Season is now open (as of May 1st).
Hunting is permitted from dawn till noon.
So you may hear shots or encounter hunters while out birding in upstate NY.
