Highlights on the Saturday morning bird walk include a Great Horned Owl, a
flock of Red winged blackbirds and 4 Fox Sparrows in various phases.

I led a trip to Pelham Bay Park today with NYC Audubon, and we had a pretty
great day. It was a lovely sunny fall day (clouding up as the afternoon
progressed). Our first stop was by the landfill & a visit to the Granny Oak.
We encountered a mixed flock of sparrows (mostly Song & White-throat
Looked for hummingbird around 5pm with Alan Drogin & a couple other birders,
but no sign of it. Did have some tasty holiday market snacks though...
Maybe it'll return in the AM?

Hummingbird, not sure of id, in purple flowers along north side of rink, near
booth G07.
Also, white-throated and swamp sparrows, gray catbird, hermit thrush in same
location.

Eight of us birded Croton Point County Park this morning. There were
pockets of good bird activity in places sheltered from the wind off the
Hudson.

According to three reports that I have seen this morning, it seems like the
ELEGANT TERN is still (as of 11:30) showing well at the north end of Squaw
Island. Directions as per a previous post. Franklin's and Little Gulls and
Black-legged Kittiwake are also in the area.

It appears that the ELEGANT TERN has been seen again this morning on the north
end of Squaw Island (Buffalo, NY). Also seen recently in the area are Common
Terns, Black-legged Kittiwake, Franklin's Gull and Little Gull. These birds are
