 This incursion of Snowy Owls has been incredible and I NEVER get bored of seeking them.  Today for the 10th day since Nov. 26, 2013 I have found one ; this one also in Orange County.  It was on Missionland Road and at some distance but well seen with a friend named Mike and two other people.  It

Sue and I decided to "embrace the winter'" today with a mornings birding in Nassau County. We started at Jones Beach/West End where we anticipated that snow cover might bring some interesting species. As we drove in to the boat basin parking lot we observed four American Pipits busily feeding

While conducting the annual waterfowl count, stopped and scanned pond and grass. The Eurasian Widgeon was there from 12:10 to 2:15 and still there when I left. The widgeon for no discernible reason to me would fly from pond to grassy knoll, feeding fast and furious, sometimes lying on their

Took a ride to Patchogue Lake this morning, all frozen over with the only open water at Roe Blvd Bridge, Red Head, Am Wigeon, Lesser Scaup, Gadwall, H Mergansers, Rudy and 3 Pie billed Grebes. Proceeded to Sayville Golf course, 2 imm Eurasian Wigeon and all the usual suspects. One rather ragged
