Hi all,
Late this afternoon, there was a near-adult male *King Eider* with the
large group of Common Eider that we observed on the bay from the parking
lot of Shinnecock Inlet.
We also saw an American Bittern along Dune Road.

Tim Lenz and I observed an EARED GREBE today at Point Lookout, Nassau County.
It was loosely associating with two Horned Grebes, immediately east of the

Great South Bay Audubon had a trip out east today, starting at Montauk Point.
Expected species were seen. More bonaparte's gulls and long-tailed ducks than
usual, many common eiders on the move, scoters (surf being most numerous),
gannet, loons and other expected species.
Gin Beach turned up 3
The Bohemian Waxwing continues for the third day in our yard in Miller
Place, NY (North Shore, LI). Many great appearances today.

There's a Ross's Goose among the many Canada Geese at the north end of Hards
Lake at Southaven County Park in Yaphank. Having sifted through everything yet
but also 2 Snow Geese.

This morning roosting among the Canada Geese on partially frozen lake were
the continuing Barnacle Goose, four Greater White-fronted Geese, one
Cackling Goose and 3 Snow Geese. Also present were 3 Redheads, and a drake
Common Merganser. The birds were still present when we left at 9 am.
