Spent a couple of hours (late morning into early afternoon) driving the
above during high tide, and not finding much. I counted 11 Great Egrets,
with 3 of that total, plus a Snowy Egret, being on Lane Island. The only
shorebirds seen were singles of Willet & Western Sandpiper. From start to
finish
Jim Cullen,Dick Belanger and I birdied the falling tide today at Cupsogue. Most
notable was a Buff-breasted Sandpiper late in the day(with remote i.d.
assistance from D.Rogers) Three Black terns ,sixteen Royal terns, and six
Forster's terns were also spotted, along with three Western Willets
They are now at the western end of the j pond, feeding with some semis.
Beautiful time to be at the beach!
