At Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx (N.Y.C.), at the north end of the
lake proper, were 22 Rusty Blackbirds, most in near-alternate

Gannets are moving en masse northeastward past Jones Beach West End. I counted
400 within approximately 5 minutes, between 9:58 and 10:03. All adults. Perhaps
some are coming from the reported aggregation in Raritan Bay.

Yesterday at around noon Heydi Lopes and I were at Dead Horse Bay in Brooklyn.
From Dead Horse Point looking west Heydi shouted to me when she spotted the
same phenomenon. A huge flock of gannets were diving, sometimes en masse, in
the bay just offshore between Manhattan Beach and Coney Island.
