You can consult the database at ebird for Dekorte Park. The last report of
Least Bitterns was August 10. Anyway, early in the morning or late in the
afternoon is the best time to find Least Bitterns in that location.

Highlight was an adult Long-billed Dowitcher at the north end.

214 Short-billed Dowitchers (mostly all juveniles)

2 White-rumps
Conservative count of 90
While doing some site inspections I observed the following birds: 6 glossy ibis
flying over S Country Rd in E. Patchogue, fledgling wrens (unknown species) in
Brookhaven hamlet, a fledgling Cooper's hawk was flying around and vocalizing
at the post morrow nature preserve in Brookhaven hamlet and
Was there a few weeks ago and saw 4 without much effort. Was told by a few
local NJ birders to go there at low tide for the best views.

fledglings and HY birds still there that have yet to disperse.
WIth a bit of patience it's usually possible to see several. There have
been double digit counts and regularly 4 or 5 visible.

Garden at 9am.
In spite of the high heat and humidity 9 species of Wood Warblers, including
Worm-eating Warbler, appeared on today's bird walk.

Currently being observed on north side of LaGrange Rd.
