I posted a short video on the Trinity Church (Wall St., Manhattan)
Connecticut Warbler seen yesterday before 9:00am.
Many observers arrived but the bird was not refound. It looks like a hatch
year bird.

Birders:
I have heard that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is strongly recommending
a huge floodgate that would significantly restrict water flow to/from
Jamaica Bay (by more than 50%), even in the open position. The floodgate
would cross from Breezy Point, Queens to Manhattan Beach, Brooklyn.

Jones Beach saw a decent push of Yellow-rumps early this morning but things got
quiet in a hurry. About 50 species observed but nothing out of the ordinary.
The highlight was the first American Tree Sparrow of the season, perched on the
coast guard fence. A Magnolia Warbler, a western Palm, and
There is a Lark Sparrow near the Stone barns at theRockefeller Preserve in
Tarrytown, NY in a large flock of Chipping Sparrows. No camera with me,
unfortunately.

While visiting my friend at 192 Macy Rd. in Briarcliff Manor, we had an adult
Bald Eagle flying low over his yard towards the river this late afternoon.
What a beautiful site and a great yard bird.

Dear Fellow Birders,
It is with sadness that I let you know that our friend Sarah Elliott passed
away on October 12th. Sarah was a longtime member of the Linnaean Society of
New York. She led nature walks in Central Park and elsewhere, and maintained
the bird sighting book in the Boathouse. She
Today, at ~ 1 P.M., Bev Prentice Robertson watched as the above dove at,
and scattered, a mixed flock of ~ 200 gulls (mostly laughing & ring billed)
which had been loafing on the beach.
