Pete Morris and I spent three hours seawatching from Field 2 at Robert
Moses State Park this morning starting at 07:00. Despite challenging
conditions, decent seabird movement was evident. Like Angus we saw a
strong movement of scoters with over 17,000 counted during the period,
nearly all headin
Yesterday I had 1 Snow Bunting, 4 Sanderlings and 1 Spotted Sandpiper on
the Bird Island Pier in Buffalo. Today there were 5 Sanderlings, the
Spotted Sandpiper, but no bunting.
There were relatively few duck and gulls either day.

I went to Heckscher SP (Suffolk) from 11:30 AM to about 1PM today. It rained
steadily but it was 64 degrees. There was a nice variety of shorebirds
providing very close views.
The highlights were 3 American Golden Plovers and a very nondescript
Long-billed Dowitcher that I initially could not pi
Despite a sharp drop off in resighting reports, the adult BROWN BOOBY continues
jus south of Star Island on green navigation marker #11. Most of the yachts it
has used as a roost have gone including Maui and the ‘blue’ boat.

The onshore winds produced a good East to West flight of sea duck and gannets
this morning but with modest diversity. Highlights of a 1 hr count from East
Hampton (Suffolk) were 2 RAZORBILLS (more typical of December) and a single
Corys Shearwater. Absence of jaegers and terns seems noteworthy.
Does anyone know if the LeConte's in Pelham Bay Park is still around? And
where exactly in Turtle cove is it being seen? I was down in NJ seeing the
Greenshank so missed seeing the sparrow yesterday. I just got a LeConte's in
CT a week or so ago and would love to see this one, a great sightin
