There is a checklist for Jamaica Bay and another for Prospect Park (on
line) and probably one for Central Park. There are of course rare birds that
have been seen at other locations (Scott's Oriole in Union Square and Yellow
Wagtail at Plum Beach)

My turn to get into this discussion.
1. Wind energy is an admirable technology to pursue.
2. Wind turbines do kill some birds, possibly fewer per tower than are
killed by well-lit skyscrapers or cell phone towers.

While I have not seen a dovekie on a smaller body of water (or alive
anywhere for that matter - just one doa on the beach at Montauk many years
ago)
If you look in the records, you will find that a freak storm in November
1934 (year approximate) blew a whole bunch (35 or so) of dovekies i
Doug Gochfeld just called to say that he is currently looking at a Marbled
Godwit at the north end of the East Pond at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge
(GNRA) in Queens County. The bird is south of the second spit (south of the
cove) on the west side of the pond, actively feeding. There are also
Rob Jett is currently looking at a Brown Pelican flying around in the water
in front of Riis Park, Queens County, N.Y. The bird is sticking to the
area just in front of the beach.
