I spent a productive 45 minutes this afternoon in Van Cortland Park before
being driven out by a cold rain. The highlight was a group of 30 Killdeer
on the Parade Ground, 5 Green-winged Teal displaying and vocalizing on the
lake, a Black-crowned night Heron and a Great Blue. Lots of Red-winged
Blackbirds and Grackles ,migratory Song and White-throated Sparrows and the
usual year-round residents .
