At Hither Hills SP, Montauk, dovekie was found today around 4PM - at the water line - by Joan Becker, Richard Becker, Robin Fishman and Eileen Schwinn. The bird appeared "waterlogged" and was taken to The Wildlife Rescue Center of the Hamptons, in Hampton Bays. We were told it was the third dovekie to be brought to the center today. All birds were thought to be "non- water repellant", perhaps the result of the strong winds and rain from yesterday's storm. One bird was found by a local boater and the other along the beach in Westhampton.

Perhaps tomorrow birders can be on the look-out along local ocean beaches for any other washed-ashore birds.

Earlier in the day(11AM), the Black Guillemot was seen inside Bullhead Bay, close to the broken bulkheading along Sebonac Inlet Road. It still was in the company of four long-tailed ducks.
