Greetings to all, Tom Fiore and I visited Rockland Lake, Rockland County 10/22 - 10/24 and observed the Eurasian Wigeon on Saturday 10/23. It was in a small pond across from the lake near the north parking lot, providing relatively close views. Coordinates were mentioned in a previous report by Alan Wells; the pond is also included on google maps of the area. The wigeon was absent during a visit late Sunday afternoon after we concluded the hawkwatch on Hook Mountain, but had returned to the pond again as observed Monday morning, 10/25. Other birds noted on the lake and in the pond were Pied-billed Grebe, many Wood Ducks and Gadwall, Northern Pintail (one female), American Wigeon, Northern Shoveler, Bufflehead, American Coot (many).
