Early this afternoon Dick Belanger called to report that the 5 Harlequins were
still at Shinnicock Inlet, but had moved to inside the inlet. He first saw them
out of the water, resting on the rocks of the east jetty. After a short time,
they entered the water, and started to feed, staying close to the jetty. His
good fortune continued when 2 birders (Dave & Bob?) pointed out a Black-headed
Gull that flew right over their heads! Hearing of the gull, and not yet having
seen this specie this winter, I headed south & east. I didn't find the gull,
but the ducks were still where Dick reported, and I did get to see 4 Great
Cormorants (not there yesterday)-2 adults & 2 juveniles. Cheers, Bob
