Returning to the area along the Hudson river off the w. side of Manhattan, scanning from near Riverbank park all the way to the GW bridge - including a close look along all the shore & some distance out on the river, NO further sighting of the earlier Red-necked Grebe. (perhaps inconsequential, I noticed that several U.S. Army helicopters passed so low along the Hudson that they needed to gain at least 10- stories in elevation to just clear the western end of the GW bridge, right at the highway, and some of the waterfowl seen did not look like they wanted to stay there just after that first pass- there were at least 3 passes.) The grebe might still be in the area & I may or may not check again Saturday. The 9 Canvasbacks were seen in easier views this time, farther away from the s. end of Riverbank park & nearly at the n. end of the pier area at the river and about W. 131 Street.

good weekend birds to all.
