In early afternoon, the northern part of the harbor, viewed from Cedar Town Park, hosted a small flock (about 5) of male Common Mergansers while an adult Red-shouldered Hawk roosted in the nearby cedars adjoining the boat ramp before being rousted by Fish Crows. Peggy & Joel Horman Ridge, NY

The middle of the day was quiet at Mt Sinai Harbor, under a blazing sun and no wind. I saw 14 Common Terns, 3 Cedar Waxwings, and a Prairie Warbler-- --and "Here We Row Again!" They finished their circuit of LI just in time, before violent thunderstorms rolled in.
