Just wanted to report that I went for a second try for the gray phase Gyrfalcon that's been hanging out at the State Line Hawkwatch in Alpine, NJ, today and was rewarded with a view at 12:40pm of it being harassed by one of the Peregrines that is resident on the cliffs there. It headed north and west and out of view for a while but reappeared and landed in the trees near it's usual roost on the cliffs by the double heart graffiti. It stayed in the trees for about an hour or so and at 1:40pm it then left after being chased out of the trees by some photographers, surprise, surprise, and head east towards Yonkers low over the river and then it started gaining altitude over Lenoir Preserve, the big white Yonkers.com water tank and Ridge Hill and circled for a few minutes before heading southeast towards the sound. Unfortunately it didn't make it far enough south for a yard bird for me but it came close:-) Even though I've seen them four other times they are still gorgeous birds to see. Very cool.
