Hi all, At 2:00 pm as Rich Fried, Brian Padden and I were heading back to the city, we happened upon a Rough-legged Hawk flying near the road. It was hovering and soaring over a field. We didn't get to see it for an extended time as we could only make a quick pullover.
Other highlights of the morning were a flock of 18 Purple Sandpipers on the jetty at Jones Beach West End, and a pair of Harlequin Ducks at Point Lookout. good birding, Anders Peltomaa Manhattan ‘Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.' – Martin Luther King, Jr. -- NYSbirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/nysbirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/NYSBirds-L 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/NYSB.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
