With permission from the List-owner I'm posting to announce upcoming
pelagic trip dates.

The 2016 Paulagics calendar is set and can be seen in detail at
http://paulagics.com/?page_id=27.

We have two different trips running in January out of Sheepshead Bay,
Brooklyn.

1- January 9th: 8-hour trip targeting inshore waters across multiple NY
counties as well as getting offshore far enough to enter the "Murre Zone."
This is a wonderful opportunity to introduce someone new to the pelagic
experience without breaking the bank, as well as for all the listers out
there to get a jump on 2016! Both Razorbill and Dovekie have been reported
inshore this week and over 1000 Bonaparte's Gulls have been working the
rips between Gravesend Bay and Sandy Hook, in addition to the usual
obligatory large gulls. There's no better way to find something rarer then
to get out there with them!

2- January 23rd: Special 14-hour (old ones were 12) offshore trip to deep
water targeting Dovekie, Northern Fulmar, Razorbill, Common Murre, Atlantic
Puffin, Glaucous, Iceland, and Lesser Black-backed Gulls, Black-legged
Kittiwake, Red Phalarope, and dare we say it Great Skua (There was a
distant Skua on this trip two winters ago that was almost certainly a
Great, but circumstances didn't allow us to pursue it). While Great Skua is
a bit of a longshot, because of their needle in a haystack nature, all the
other species mentioned are decent bets. This is the trip known as "The
Dovekie Trip," and in the past it has connected with several THOUSAND!! It
is also by far the best way to see Atlantic Puffin in New York.

Both trips will be aboard the fast and stable Brooklyn VI. The boat has a
heated cabin as well as a full galley and cook on board, and a phenomenally
birder friendly crew. We really hope you'll join us on board!

Registration will officially open December 23rd, but an email to the
address below will be sufficient to reserve a space. Our trips board in the
order in which people sign up. More information on signing up can be found
at the following link.
