While looking out my window of my Fresh Meadows, Queens apartment last night I saw a great-horned owl.
I’m not sure where the owl came from. I know from ebird owls are seen fairly regularly at Alley Pond Park, but that park is a few miles away from my apartment. From photos I was shown by another birder a few years ago large owls were nesting in Kissena Park. Kissena Park is a few blocks away from my apartment. Maybe the owl was from Kissena Park. Has anyone else seen owls in central Queens outside of Alley Pond Park? This morning at Kissena Park I spotted a red-shouldered hawk and the five species of sparrows. -- NYSbirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsRULES ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/nysbirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/NYSB.html 3) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/NYSBirds-L Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
