  The Buffalo Bird Report is a service provided by your
  Buffalo Museum of Science and the Buffalo Ornithological
  Society. To contact the Science Museum, call 896-5200. Press
  the pound key to report sightings before the end of this
  report.

  Highlights of reports received September 22 through
  September 29 from the Niagara Frontier Region.

  Night migration of thrushes was noted by two reporters the
  night of September 23. VEERY, SWAINSON'S THRUSH and GRAY-
  CHEEKED THRUSHES were heard over Tonawanda and Buffalo. Also
  this week, a GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSH in an Amherst yard.

  Other fall migrants - three YELLOW-B. SAPSUCKERS in the
  University District in Buffalo, and CAPE MAY WARBLER in the
  Cattaraugus County Town of Hinsdale.

  From the Bird Island Pier, at the source of the Niagara
  River, SURF SCOTER, and on the pier, BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER,
  RUDDY TURNSTONE and SANDERLING.

  At the Batavia Waste Water Plant, three EARED GREBES
  continue with 95 RUDDY DUCKS. Other waterfowl at the plant -
  AMERICAN WIGEON, BLUE-WINGED TEAL, NORTHERN SHOVELER,
  NORTHERN PINTAIL, GREEN-WINGED TEAL, RING-NECKED DUCK, a
  pair of GREATER SCAUP, and COMMON MERGANSER. Also an
  AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER  at the aerated  ponds.

  And, a JAEGER SPECIES on Lake Ontario, off Johnson's
  Creek in Orleans County.

  The Bird Report will be updated Thursday evening, October 6.
