A roseate spoonbill was found last night by Michael Redstone and has just
been refound.
Anyone chasing this bird should park at the hewlett high school and walk
over to the pond. There is no street parking.

Unfortunately, Shu Swamp will be closed this week due to intense storm damage
and dangerous trails. There is no parking in the area. It may open back up

with binoculars or scope it can be seen from a great distance...we are seeing
it from parking lot across from the cold spring harbor state park

Hi all!! After being at st John's pond sanctuary, it woke up, flew to a tree,
then flew to a snag a few moments later and then again moments later flew up
and out over the pond at roughly 5:15 pm and across the street to cold spring

There are two eBird reports (with photos) of a Roseate Spoonbill seen for a
minute this morning in Laurel Hollow, Nassau County, close to the Suffolk
County border. Let's hope it can be relocated!
By my count, this is the 6th NYS Spoonbill for the summer, if we assume the
Wallkill and Wappingers F
We had great views of this confiding bird this morning following Rich Guthrie’s

Both birds were showing well around lunchtime today. The Spoonbill was perched
out in open on a branch over the Seneca River about 200m west of the Rte 89
bridge on north side of river with some cormorants. The wood stork was

Bob Proniewich and I went to Wallkill nwr today in the morning and observed the
spoonbill in its usual spot on the west trail in the cut south of the water
control and water depth meter.
Much as we hoped, when it flew a few times it never ventured anywhere near to
the NY border.

A juvenile Roseate Spoonbill is currently visible at Wallkill River NWR’s
Liberty Marsh off Oil City Road, where it has been reported for several days.
The New York/New Jersey border runs directly through the wetlands. So far it
seems that the bird has remained on, and is only visible from, the
