A short-eared owl was seen this evening, heading west and hunting, between the Town Fishing dock area and Tiana Beach Pavilion. The bird was primarily on the bay side of Dune Rd., but did cross over to the ocean dune side occasionally. I watched it between 5:00 and 5:10pm, and last saw it, still in the air, just east of the road leading to the Old Ponquogue Bridge boat launch and parking area.
