Highlights of reports received October 22 through October 29 from the Niagara Frontier Region include WHITE IBIS and GR. WHITE-FR. GEESE.

The evenings of October 22 and 24, the enigmatic WHITE IBIS was reported again in the Tonawanda Wildlife Management Area, on the dikes between Hunt Club and Woods Marshes. The ibis was also seen flying over Owens-Bartel Road enroute to the roosting area. At least 20 GREAT EGRETS were still at the roost on the 22nd, and a trio of GREAT HORNED OWLS have been calling from the marshes.

October 25, in the Iroquois Refuge, 8 GR. WHITE-FR. GEESE were still at Ring Necked Marsh on Sour Springs Road, along with one blue phase SNOW GOOSE and at least 2 CACKLING GEESE. Singing RUSTY BLACKBIRDS were also noted throughout the refuge.

The BOS field trip to the Lake Ontario shore and plains on the 25th reported two flocks of 70 BRANT, AMERICAN WIGEON, GREATER SCAUP, LESSER SCAUP, SURF SCOTER, WHITE-WINGED SCOTER, BLACK SCOTER, LONG-TAILED DUCK, COMMON GOLDENEYE, several RED-THROATED LOONS, dozens of COMMON LOONS, and HORNED GREBE. On Hartland Road in the Town of Somerset, the first report of NORTHERN SHRIKE for the season, plus 8 EASTERN MEADOWLARKS. Also in the plains, EASTERN BLUEBIRDS and WHITE-CR. SPARROWS. The field trip also included Hamlin Beach State Park, to the east of the BOS region, where an exceptional PACIFIC LOON was seen for several days.

October 27, an AMERICAN WOODCOCK specimen was found in downtown Buffalo, at the HSBC Center Plaza - likely a migrant striking the tall building.

Other reports this week - 5 GREAT EGRETS on the Niagara River at Fort Erie, Ontario. PEREGRINE FALCON on the North Grand Island Bridge. At Akron and Drapers Roads in the Town of Newstead, 9 DUNLINS and several AMERICAN PIPITS. Three L. BLACK-B. GULLS still above the Three Sisters Islands in Niagara Falls, New York. BARRED OWL calling near a yard in the Town of Holland. And, a FOX SPARROW at a feeder in the Town of Wilson.
