That's the Jones Beach Boys that Andrew knew. But I started birding Jones Beach around 1982 or so. Sy was one of the first birders I knew (and he was always happy to chat and teach). The rest of the Jones Beach group then included Al Wollin, Neil Ward, Stephen Dempsey, Manny Levine, and Matt Bayer.
