Parking at Pepper Street is at your risk. There is no guarantees made on security and to assume this is the case is wrong. There are signs installed at the entrance to indicate this. A notice was also sent out a while ago advising all users of the car park who are “long term parkers” that due to the cost of labour and manning the booth over long weekends, it was more prudent to allow staff to take leave as well as have open parking during this time as it is traditionally a low revenue period for the car park. Sorry to hear of your attempted theft, but the cost of parking at Pepper Square can not cover security other than the security cameras which are installed. The quarter back window was smashed and my ignition wrecked. If not for my gear lock my car would have been stolen. I know we park at our own risk, but for three days the kiosk was unmanned and the booms were up. I was unaware of what had happened untill well after dark when a neighbour knocked on my door with the news. As my car was still there and the thief was long gone I didn't report the crime to the police until yesterday morning.
